Nanotechnology Part 2
Summary of the course
Students will explore various types of nanomaterials—such as metallic, metal oxides, polymeric, and carbon-based nanoparticles—and understand how their unique properties emerge at the nanoscale.
The course covers a wide range of synthesis and fabrication techniques, including top-down methods (e.g., milling, lithography) and bottom-up approaches (e.g., chemical precipitation, sol-gel, green synthesis, and self-assembly). Emphasis is placed on characterization tools such as SEM, TEM, XRD, DLS, and FTIR for analyzing particle size, morphology, surface area, and chemical composition. Special attention is given to the application of nanotechnology in cosmetics, where nanoparticles like nano-silver, nano-titanium dioxide, and liposomes are used in sunscreens, anti-aging products, and targeted delivery systems to enhance skin penetration, product stability, and efficacy.
By the end of the course, participants will acquire the foundational knowledge and practical insights needed to work with nanomaterials across diverse fields specially in cosmetic science
